Today was Memorial Day, so for most people it was a holiday. I don’t have much of anything to do on Mondays, so for me it just seemed like a normal day. Still, I tried to be in holiday spirit and got work out of the way yesterday. It was another warm, beautiful day here in Chicago, at least this morning and early in the afternoon. Around 3 or so, clouds rolled in and I decided to finally take advantage of the fact that we have a really nice front deck. Mr. Man and I haven’t used it much at all. For the last three or four months, we haven’t even opened the blinds that cover the sliding doors leading out to the deck, mostly because a certain little Corgi can’t handle himself when he can see outside and see all the people coming and going (so.much.barking.). I didn’t feel like going anywhere today, but it was too nice not to go outside, so I dragged a chair and my book outside to enjoy the warmth. It also happened to be really beautiful outside, since a storm was rolling in. I’ve talked about it before, but I absolutely love the way it looks when it’s cloudy and sunny at the same time and the bright, new green leaves are juxtaposed against cloudy skies. There is something peaceful about it and something intoxicating about the smell of rain. I will definitely be taking advantage of the deck more often this summer.
