I’ve been trying to make an effort to get back into crafting. I used to do crafts all the time, but once I moved to Chicago, I kind of gave up on them for whatever reasons. Over the past month, I’ve been trying to get back into them. First, I did a silhouette portrait of my Corgi, Ein, and then this weekend, I spent three days on the two canvases in the picture above. I saw a pin on Pinterest that linked to cut canvas art and I thought “hey, I can totally do that.” I already had the canvases lying around, so Friday night I got to it and decided to make some art for the big, empty space above the fireplace in my apartment. I knew I wanted something geometric, so I spent Friday night sketching and drawing out my designs (I plan to have four canvases in total, eventually). Saturday was spent cutting the pattern into the canvas and let me tell you that was hard work! I have the blisters to prove it! Sunday was about painting. I originally had four canvases, but once I got to the cutting stage, I realized that I had made an error in the design of two of them and that the design wouldn’t hold up to being cut out…unfortunately I realized that after I had begun cutting. So I need to go to the art supply store and buy a couple more canvases to finish up the project. Overall, I’m super satisfied and I love the feeling of accomplishment that comes from finishing a craft project, even if it takes 3 days.
